About Me and Cantabile Method
34 Years of Piano Teaching Tells Me…
That the quality of practice makes or breaks one’s success at piano learning. I only see my students during their lesson which is only a fraction of their time spent playing the piano. Since their success at piano learning reside in the quality of their practice, students are responsible for their own destiny.
Every student is different.
Knowing the temperament of your student and his/her likes or dislike is crucial to deciding the method of the piano lesson whether it is online, offline, using a method book, or piece by piece.

Hello, I’m Naoko Aita
I am the founder of the Cantabile method.
First of all...
What is Cantabile ???
Cantabile [kanˈtaːbile] is an Italian word that means play "in a singing manner"
The more you sing, the more you play better
I believe the Cantabile Method can benefit students of all ages. By incorporating singing activity, you can enhance memory, concentration, and overall cognitive development skills. With singing you learn how to read music, appreciate rhythm and dynamics, and develop essential hand-eye coordination techniques much quicker than without singing activity. Moreover, piano lessons can have a lasting and positive impact beyond the realm of music. Consistently practicing the piano can help lessen stress and anxiety, encourage relaxation, and elevate mood. Additionally, it promotes a sense of achievement and increases self-esteem.
About Me...
I am an accompanist, piano teacher, vocal coach. Born in Osaka, Japan, I began piano and composition studies at the age of seven. I received my A. A. degree in composition at Kobe Yamate Women’s College, where I was trained with composer Yoshinao Nakada. In US, I switched my focus on piano performance, I have studied with Julie Jordan, Liz Huang, Gary Hammond, and Madeline Bruser. I received my Bachelor of Music and Master of Arts degrees from Hunter College in New York City. During my stay, I won the Aria and Concerto competition and received numerous awards and prizes. I am an Adjunct Accompanist at Hunter College. Equally comfortable with playing Classical and non-Classical, I have been appearing various venues with professional singers.
